Q: What is “LDI”? A: The Leadership Development Institute, or LDI, is the arm of Crossroads that trains Core Organizer/Trainers. Q: What are trainers trained to do? A: Initially, participants in LDI develop the capacity for leading Crossroads’ 2.5 day Analysis of Racism trainings within their own institutions. Once trained, the LDI also provides trainers with ongoing support and offers opportunities to both deepen their training skills, and to enhance their organizing skills. Q: Can I become a Trainer? A: Yes, if you are member of an active anti-racism team trained by Crossroads working within your institution, and part of the team’s strategy is to create the capacity to offer 2.5 day Analysis of Racism trainings within your wider institution. Then you would enter the LDI training process paired with another person from your team (generally one person of color and one white person). Additionally, Crossroads also trains Organizer / Trainers to grow our internal capacity to meet the growing demands for events across the country. This happens through a transparent call, application and selection process based on our needs. Q: Once trained, can my training partner and I lead trainings for other organizations independently, outside of our own institution? A: When people are trained to be Organizer /Trainers, they are accountable to their sponsoring institution. This means that they are only authorized to facilitate workshops within the context of their own institution, and as part of their larger organizing strategy. Q: OK – my team wants to know more about how to move forward with the training process – now what? A: After you and your team have had a chance to read and discuss the Introduction (which outlines LDI’s mission and goals) and General Overview of Training Process, it’s time for a conversation with the Director of LDI, PaKou Her. You can contact her at PHer@crossroadsantiracism.org to get the ball rolling! |
