A: We use a rigorous power analysis to help institutions identify barriers to authentic, just, and accountable multicultural diversity. Pivotal to this work is our unique and innovative training process, which facilitates building institutional teams. Q: Why does Crossroads put so much emphasis on anti-racism teams? A: Because racism is a systemic problem and has been structured into our institutions, the antidote to racism needs to be structured in our institutions as well. Institutionally sanctioned and mandated teams provide a structured transformational response to racism. Racism’s primary weapon is ‘divide and conquer’ – a tactic white institutions are very practiced at! By forming teams, institutions can move toward gathering a critical mass – without a critical mass, change becomes transactional, not transformational. Q: How can we learn more about what it takes to form an anti-racism team? A: First, our General Overview lays out the basics. Once you’ve had a chance to read that, you can read a more detailed description of the Team Formation Process. And you are always welcome to inquire directly at (708) 503-0804, or by e-mailing us at info@crossroadsantiracism.org Q: Our institution is moving forward with the team formation process – is there anything we need to do to prepare? A: Yes – there are various logistical tasks and arrangements for trainers that will need to be taken care of ahead of time. You will find all the details here. “While some consulting groups will come in, deliver the services contracted for and leave, Crossroads remains present as an active, invested partner in the transformation of the institutions with whom they work.” —Rev. Jessica Vazquez Torres, Core Organizer/Trainer, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) “I highly recommend Crossroads for your anti-racism planning and process design. They bring the knowledge, skills, process, and identity as consultants to the work of long-term systemic anti-racist multicultural institutional community building.” —Willard Bass, Jr., Executive Director, Institute for Dismantling Racism – Winston-Salem Art courtesy of Art for Social Justice – Ricardo Levins Morales For more information about resources for Anti-Racism teams, check out our Resources page. |
