Understanding our Fees
Sustained by the Work We Do Together
Since 1986, Crossroads has run almost entirely on training, consulting, and facilitation fees — not grants. It’s by design: getting paid directly by the people we work with keeps us answering to them first. We’re deeply grateful to the donors who choose to invest in us anyway — their support strengthens work that our clients and communities already sustain.
When you work with Crossroads, your investment goes directly toward:
Just and equitable salaries and benefits for Crossroads staff
Operational expenses that keep the organization running
Ongoing curriculum and program development that deepens and advances the work
Subsidized access for organizations with fewer resources, so this work remains available to those who need it most
Fees that Reflect our Values
Nearly 85% of Crossroads’ annual income comes from service fees. To ensure this work is accessible to organizations of all sizes, we offer a sliding scale with four rate classifications — an intentional effort to distribute resources equitably across the institutions we serve.
Equity Rate — A subsidized rate for very small, grassroots organizations with limited staff and resources
Sustainer Rate — Our break-even cost, covering facilitator wages, administrative support, and overhead
Supporter Rate — For institutions with greater access to resources, this rate helps fund research and the development of future work
Movement Builder Rate — For larger institutions whose fees help subsidize our work with smaller organizations — building antiracist communities at every level
Rates are based on annual budget, though we also consider other factors — particularly for organizations doing movement-building work or building a solidarity economy, especially those led by communities of color, immigrants, and working-class and poor people.
Some organizations reduce costs by co-hosting a workshop with allied local groups or connecting Crossroads with other institutions interested in sponsoring regional events. In some cases, partner foundations offer scholarships.
If cost is a barrier, reach out. We’ll work with you to find a path forward. To request consideration for a different rate classification, please complete the following form: https://crossroadsantiracism.typeform.com/to/yVvaORsp

Long-Term Antiracist Institutional Transformation
For institutions that have engaged Crossroads to assist in the long-term work of antiracist identity change, the sliding scale will be applied to all services offered based on the daily and hourly rates listed above. Crossroads facilitators will work with institutional representatives to mutually discern contextually appropriate next steps, which may include an institutional assessment, antiracism team development, or other customized engagements.
Travel Expenses
Crossroads is available to travel for in-person engagements. We ask for at least 30 days’ notice to book travel, and we prioritize multi-day engagements (more than one day) when scheduling travel.
In these cases, all travel-related expenses will be billed at cost, with no discount or surcharge added. We try, to the best of our ability, to keep facilitators’ expenses as low as possible. These generally include transportation, lodging, and meals. We use the GSA per diem rates as a general guideline.
